The aim of the conference is to review HPV in the context of HIV infection, explore the latest research in HPV science and vaccinology in both men and women, and offer practical sessions aimed at professionals who regularly care for HIV-infected individuals and are interested in implementing their own anal cancer screening programme in patients at increased risk of HPV infection.

It is a 3-day training activity that combines didactic lectures with practical sessions including clinical case discussions and patient-centred training on the detection and management of anal dysplasia.

The Barcelona HPV Course / Jornadas sobre el VPH, an accredited workshop, was launched in 2017 by the Fundación Lucha contra las Infecciones and the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron and is held year after year in Spain.

Adrià Curran is a staff physician of the Infectious Diseases Department of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and is the coordinator of the Anal Dysplasia Screening Unit of Vall d’Hebron University Hospital. He has carried out specific training on HPV anal dysplasia in HIV patients at the University of San Francisco (CA, USA) with Prof. Joel Palefsky. He is a member of the International Anal Neoplasia Society. He participates as a researcher in multiple international clinical trials and has published more than 100 articles in national and international journals and book chapters on various aspects of HIV infection, HPV and its treatment.
