José Ramón Santos

José-Ramon Santos MD, PhD, is a specialist in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases since 2005. He has focused most of his work on the study of HIV resistance to antiretrovirals and simplification strategies. He has co-authored multiple students nationally and internationally and has published in recognized journals (eg Clinical Infectious Diseases, PlosOne, Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy). Since the appearance of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, it has also been involved in research and direct care of patients hospitalized for SARS CoV-2. In this sense, it has been achieved in some of the main studies carried out with (Beigel et al. N Engl J Med 2020 November 5th; 383 (19): 1813-182, Beigel et al. N Engl J Med 2020 May 225;383(19):1813-1826, Kalil et al. N English J Med 2020).

He is currently collaborating with groups studying reinfections by SARS-CoV-2 and long-COVID. Additionally, it has contributed to the preparation of the “Recommendations for the selection of the donor for the transfer of fecal microbiota. Position document endorsed by the Catalan Society of Digestology, the Catalan Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology and the GEMBIOTA group of the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology”. In this same sense, it has succeeded in drawing up the protocol for carrying out microbiota transfer at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital and in successfully carrying out the same in said center.
